Photography Styles
There are a few photography styles that have taken the wedding world by storm but that doesn't mean it's your style. We’re here to help you put into words what your wedding photography style is.
Traditional

Traditional style photos are posed and straightforward formal shots. They're classic shots that stand the test of time. Most photographers will incorporate at least some of these shots for family, bridal parties, the couple, etc.
Photojournalistic

These are candid and documentary style photographs that are meant to capture the full range of emotions and activities as they unfold. This style of photography was first used in journalism (hence the name) and is meant to be raw and unguided, capturing all the big and small moments. This is super popular nowadays.
Lifestyle

Maybe you don't want super posed photos but going completely candid sounds intimidating. Opt for Lifestyle which is in the middle. It gives off the look and feel of candid moments, but is done with your photographer’s guidance and styling.
Editorial

Have you ever wanted to be featured as a Vogue bride? This style is for you! There can be a mix of posed and candid shots, but with more of a fashion shoot, high-end luxury vibe. Editorial style photography has its background in print magazines, which is where the style came from.
Dark & Moody

As the name suggests, it’s dark, moody, and dramatic! Photographers can use shadows or lighting to create unique patterns and silhouettes, and use darker filters over the photos. The style in which they capture certain moments may also tend to be a bit “moodier”.
Light & Airy

This is the opposite of dark & moody with a light and airy vibe. It’s also known as fine art photography, and is often coupled with editorial style photography. It's soft, delicate, and clean, conjuring up romantic vibes. This is also a very popular style nowadays.
Landscape

This last style goes beyond just capturing the couple, the emotions, and the event. These types of photographers love to play with the backdrops. Whether you’re taking photos in dramatic mountain scenery, rolling sand dunes, or in the city, this style of photography creatively uses the unique elements and lines of your landscape.
